Wolverhampton Wanderers are being linked with a fresh move for Aaron Ramsey.
According to Sport, Barcelona are trying to get Miralem Pjanic among many others off their wage bill.
One club interested in taking him is Juventus, but the Italians would need to shift Aaron Ramsey.
That’s where Wolves come in.
Apparently, negotiations are already ‘well advanced’ over the 30-year-old.
But Tottenham Hotspur – now managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, of course – are also said to be in advanced negotiations over the player.
It remains to be seen if Ramsey can be offloaded this summer. It surely won’t be straightforward though, as the ex-Arsenal man is on a whopping salary.
BBC Sport reported him to be on £400,000-a-week when he signed for the Old Lady in 2019.
Ramsey move would be a major surprise
This does not seem at all likely.
It’s probably likely Ramsey would be willing to take a pay cut to join a new club.
But Wolves’ current highest earning player is Joao Moutinho on £100,000-a-week – that’s four times less than Ramsey.
He’s not had the best of spells at Juve, but he looked really good for Wales at Euro 2020.
If he would be happy to take a Moutinho-style weekly wage, perhaps Wolves should give it some thought.
