Barcelona are ready to offload full-back Junior Firpo this summer, after the player was linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 24-year-old has struggled to get regular game time this season, and Sport claim he isn’t in Ronald Koeman’s plans going forwards.
The Spanish giants are said to be looking to replace the man they signed from Real Betis in the summer of 2019.
It’s claimed Napoli are quite keen to land Firpo, but there is apparently interest from the Premier League as well.
Sport brought a report in December explaining that Wolves were interested in Firpo, along with West Ham United.
Wolves have plenty of cover at left-back/left wing-back at the moment, however, Fernando Marcal’s injury record has been quite concerning and not just during his time at Molineux.
And Rayan Ait-Nouri is only on loan and arguably he has a fair bit of work to do to turn his move permanent.
Firpo is worth looking at
Should Marcal be sold, and Ait-Nouri sent back to Angers, then Firpo might be worth looking at.
How move to Barca hasn’t worked out and it seems he’s ready for a new adventure.
It’s claimed they want around €20 million/£17 million, but Barca are in real financial difficulty and may well have to accept less.
Firpo is an attack-minded full-back and so could really suit Wolves.
They only did business with Barca last summer over Nelson Semedo, so perhaps there’s a good relationship there for another deal to happen.
