Former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui may soon be back in management, with Lyon now set to approach the Spaniard.
The 56-year-old has been out of work for about a month now, after leaving his position at Wolves.
Lopetegui departed Molineux after growing frustrated with the club’s financial restrictions and communications to him about the situation.
After a controversial interview with Guillem Balague, Lopetegui informed sporting director Matt Hobbs straight after the pre-season game with Celtic that he wanted out.
Almost two weeks later, an agreement was reached for him to leave.
Gary O’Neil was appointed the day after.
Now, it has been claimed Lyon will speak to Lopetegui about him becoming their new manager.
Julen Lopetegui targeted by Lyon
Sky Sports have reported this morning that Lyon will now speak to Lopetegui about him taking over as their new manager.
Lyon have made an awful start to the new season, and sit rock bottom after four games with one point.
Laurent Blanc is expected to be sacked during the international break.
Lopetegui is on Lyon’s radar, as is Paulo Fonseca, who has been linked with the Wolves job in the past.
Former Brighton and Chelsea manager Graham Potter is reported to have already turned the job down.
Lopetegui will be in demand
It is no surprise to see Lopetegui already being linked with jobs.
He did great work at Wolves, guiding the club to Premier League safety after taking over when the club was bottom of the league.
He will not be short of options moving forwards.

He annoyed a few Wolves fans with the way he left the club.
But what he did for the club cannot be denied, and he will be someone that many other clubs consider if he does not take the job at Lyon.
