Report: Erik ten Hag has been tracking Wolves star Ruben Neves for years

Erik ten Hag – who is being tipped to become the next Manchester United manager – has reportedly been tracking Wolves star Ruben Neves ‘for years’.

The Dutchman is currently the head coach of Ajax.

But he is strongly rumoured to be in the frame to take over from Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford. Mauricio Pochettino is also an option for the Red Devils.

If ten Hag gets the gig, then it could have significance for Wolves.

United have already been linked with a move for Neves recently.

But it seems the interest of club officials is also shared by ten Hag, whom the The Sun say is a huge fan of the Portugal international.

Apparently, he’ll make Neves his number one target if he succeeds Rangnick.

ten Hag has watched Neves ever since he was a teenager at FC Porto. He believes he would be a vital signing to fix United’s midfield issues.

Wolves are currently trying to tie Neves down to a new contract at Molineux.

Scott Sellars recently admitted the club expects plenty of interest in him this summer.

Not good news for Wolves as ten Hag admires Neves

In recent weeks, ten Hag has become the frontrunner for the United job.

He has worked wonders at Ajax, and he has a very good chance of becoming the next Red Devils manager.

They are crying out for a new midfield maestro, and Neves would improve them massively.

There’s every chance they’ll be testing Wolves’ resolve this summer. Hopefully, Wolves officials will agree a new contract with him ahead of the next window opening.
