Rayan Ait-Nouri now has a golden chance to reclaim starting spot at Wolves as Hugo Bueno picks up injury

Last night’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool was one to forget for Wolves fans, with Hugo Bueno’s injury adding to the misery.

Just one month ago, Wanderers put in their best performance of the season against the Reds to claim a 3-0 win.

In this latest meeting, Wolves put in one of their worst.

It was an awful performance from Wolves, who barely showed any attacking intent.

Wolves did OK in the first-half, but they rather rolled over in the second.

That was disappointing to see, especially after Darwin Nunez saw a goal ruled out by VAR. You’d have thought that might have provided some chutzpah. But Wolves seemed happy to just try and come away with a point.

It was a night of real frustration, and to make matter worse, Wolves could now be without Hugo Bueno for the coming matches in the Premier League.

The full-back was forced off midway through the first-half with an apparent hamstring injury.

Fans will await an update on the 20-year-old. Lopetegui is due to speak to the media tomorrow ahead of the game with Tottenham Hotspur.

But this could now be a big chance for Rayan Ait-Nouri to get back in favour at Molineux.

He has been playing second fiddle to Bueno for the past few months, waiting for a chance to start again.

Quite possibly, this could now be the £10 million star’s moment to shine once more.

Hugo Bueno injury is a big blow but Rayan Ait-Nouri can ease Julen Lopetegui’s pain

Hopefully the injury to Bueno is not too serious, just as Matheus Cunha’s wasn’t.

But it could well be that the Spaniard is now out of action for a period of time. If that is to be the case, then it’s a golden chance for Ait-Nouri.

Ait-Nouri was actually named Wolves’ Player of the Month for December.

He had a really strong start to the Lopetegui era, making important contributions coming off the bench.

This could now be his chance to reclaim his starting berth at Molineux.

He is a young player with huge potential, who’s been kept out of the team by another young player with huge potential.

This is his chance to remind people how good he is and force Bueno onto the bench when he returns.
