Rafa Mir posts on Instagram after winning Olympic silver medal, hints at exit

Rafa Mir came up just short for Spain at the Tokyo Olympics, winning a silver medal in the men’s football.

The Wolves striker had a fine tournament, which included a hat-trick against Ivory Coast in the quarter-final.

Spain faced Brazil, who had too much and became the first nation to retain gold in the event after winning 2-1.

For Mir, attentions will now turn to his immediate future.

The 24-year-old has been tipped to leave Molineux.

Despite him only have a year left on his contract, Mir’s fantastic form for Huesca last season means he has a decent market value.

Wolves need to take advantage of that, as they seek new faces before the end of the window.

In recent days, Mir has been strongly linked with a move to Spanish champions Atletico Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano claimed last week that negotiations were at the final stages and that he is set to join having agreed personal terms.

It could be that an announcement on this is now imminent with the Olympics now over and done with.

Mir has taken to Instagram, and his message does suggest he is all set to depart.

At the end, he writes, ‘Now is the time to focus on the season! Looking forward to starting this challenge!’ along with two emojis including the eyes emoji:
