PSV Eindhoven have reportedly spoken with Wolves about potentially taking Fabio Silva beyond the current season.
The 20-year-old has just signed for the Dutch giants, after the decision was made to terminate his contract with Anderlecht.
Silva had been due to spend the whole season with the Belgian outfit.
But sporting director Matt Hobbs has suggested Anderlecht’s struggles on the pitch led to the decision to facilitate a new loan move for Silva.
He’d done quite well, scoring 11 goals for the club.
But Silva will now take up a new challenge with PSV and work with legendary former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Wolves officials simply want Silva to get regular game time.
Interestingly, journalist Rik Elfrink reports that PSV have actually enquired about having Silva beyond this season.
He tweeted: “The intention has been expressed to possibly continue working together for a longer period of time.”
He adds that there is no option for PSV to buy the player.
this is an interesting piece of information, and it appears to be at odds with something Hobbs said.
In Wolves’ announcement of Silva joining PSV, sporting director Hobbs said that Julen Lopetegui likes the youngster, is keeping a close eye on his progress, and wants him back for pre-season.
Wolves will surely take a decision on Fabio Silva at the end of the season, as PSV reportedly enquire about extended loan spell
It is interesting that PSV have apparently expressed interest in working with Silva for a longer period of time.
Surely, they would be wanting to see how he fares in the coming months first.
And Wolves would surely not be looking to make a decision on this right now.
All that needs to happen right now is for Silva to play games of football and develop.
Discussion can then take place about the best course of action to take. Ideally, he’ll thrive for PSV and Wolves will be taking him back as a much improved player, ready for the 2023/24 season.
