Wolves have been linked with Joao Palhinha throughout the entire transfer window.
Now, Portuguese football expert Filipe Dias has given an update on the midfielder’s situation to Sky Sports.
He says something is about to happen in the coming days regarding the Portuguese international’s future.
But one issue for Wolves is they are not the only club in the race…

“Apart from Wolverhampton, Tottenham are also interested in him,” said Dias of Palhinha. “Which makes sense, with Portuguese managers familiar with this player.
“Sporting do need to sell. Their manager wants the player to stay but Sporting is asking for 40 million euros.
“He will fit the Premier League perfectly. We are still waiting for an update but I think something is about to happen.
“We’ll have to wait and see in the next couple of days. He would be perfect for both clubs.”

Can Wolves afford Palhinha without selling Ruben Neves?
At the price currently quoted, it looks like Palhinha is only a realistic target if Wolves sell big.
That said, they might be trying to play bluff with Sporting to see if they’ll lower their price as the window goes on given their financial situation.
Palhinha would be a great signing, but the financial landscape would need to change a lot for him to arrive from the looks of it as things stand.
