‘Please no’… Wolves fans are saying the same thing as Michael Keane transfer rumour emerges

Wolves fans have been reacting to a claim that Michael Keane could be a target for the club this summer.

Wolves recently strengthened their pool of defensive options by landing Emmanuel Agbadou and Nasser Djiga in transfer deadline day.

Agbadou looks like an especially good signing, and the hope is that his presence in that backline will help guide Wolves to Premier League safety.

It seems Wolves could be in the market for another centre-back this summer.

Koni De Winter was linked with Wolves again recently.

And Victor Lindelof is also a player Wolves are keeping tabs on.

On Monday, there was then a somewhat surprise transfer link, with Wolves credited with an interest in Everton defender Michael Keane.

And now, fans have given their takes on the rumour.

It has been reported that Wolves are keeping an eye on Keane ahead of the summer.

He is going to become a free agent with his contract expiring, and there is supposedly quite a bit of interest in him at the moment.

Saudi Pro League side Al Riyad and American team FC Dallas have also been mentioned as possible destinations.

Wolves are keen to – but it seems fans really aren’t keen for this to materialise.

@wolvesglobalboub said: “Like the idea of someone experienced and homegrown replacing Santi. Not entirely sure I want Keane though..”

@Jonnyq88 added: “Absolutely not.”

@Blubberguts said: “Oh please no. Everton started to improve when they finally realised he was a large part of their problem.”

@Gtbj200 said: “No thanks, rather take Leicester’s best defender of them.”

Wolves must be more ambitious

While Keane has a lot of Premier League experience, his best days are behind him and Wolves should be showing a bit more ambition this summer.

There is potentially scope for him to replace Craig Dawson, who was left out of Wolves’ update Premier League squad and will leave in the summer when his contract expires, if not sooner.

There could be a role for Keane as a fourth or fifth-choice central defender. But realistically, Wolves just need better.

Now if Wolves drop into the Championship, then perhaps there could be more of a need.

But the reaction to the Keane transfer rumour is pretty clear, so hopefully Molineux officials will set their sights a little higher.
