Wolves may well have a decent chance to sign Nico Elvedi this summer, with Borussia Monchengladbach ready to sell the defender.
The Switzerland international was a player Wanderers were frequently linked with during last summer’s transfer window. He apparently wanted to leave.
But of course, at the time, Wanderers were in a precarious financial position and deals were difficult to do. A host of big names had to leave first, before there could be incomings at the end of the window.
Wolves might have moved for Elvedi at the end, but instead decided to make a swoop for Santi Bueno.
Gary O’Neil is likely to want a bigger squad next season and another centre-back may not be out of the question – and it seems Nico Elvedi could be attainable…
Previous Wolves target Nico Elvedi set to leave Borussia Monchengladbach

It has been reported by the Rheinische Post that Elvedi is someone who will likely be offloaded this summer.
Gladbach are currently looking at their finances, and are ready to try and make some money in the next window.
Elvedi has actually extended his contract with the club since those summer links to Wolves, but it is thought he has a release clause of about £8.5 million.
That is around the same amount Wolves paid Girona for Santi Bueno.
It remains to be seen if Wolves will make a fresh attempt at signing Elvedi, but Gladbach are open to his departure as they seek to make money.
Wolves should be in a strong financial position this summer after turning a big profit last summer and not signing anyone in January – aside from Noha Lemina who came in on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
Elvedi should be considered by Wolves
It will be very interesting to see if Wolves make another move to sign Elvedi.
Seemingly, the finances just didn’t allow anything to happen last summer and then the club ultimately decided they would go for Bueno.
But Elvedi would potentially make a great signing for Wolves. The 27-year-old has been described previously as someone who has ‘a strong aerial game and reads crosses very well’ by Daniel Farke.
Gary O’Neil wants his side to be better playing out from the back and Elvedi is certainly a very good ball-player having recorded the highest pass accuracy in the Bundesliga last season.
