‘Phenomenon’ Wolves target could now snub Molineux move in favour of Vitinha link up

Wolves are facing a huge summer, with the club set to bid farewell to several players in the next transfer window.

It has been a very turbulent campaign, but Wolves have come out of it unscathed and will play Premier League football again in 2025/26.

For a while things had looked dicey. But Vitor Pereira has come in and executed a safety mission – and fans now hope that he is backed by his superiors.

Given players like Matheus Cunha, Pablo Sarabia and Nelson Semedo are likely to be moving on, Wolves will need to sign experienced stars to replace them.

But we know how Wolves operate these days, with young gems with high ceilings very much on the agenda. Thiago Silvero, for instance, is on Wolves’ radar at the moment.

Recently, Wolves were said to have joined the hunt for Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono.

But potentially this will be an extremely hard deal to do.

It’s been reported that Paris Saint-Germain have just joined the hunt for Franco Mastantuono.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg wrote on X: “EXCL | Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race for super talent Franco #Mastantuono!

“He’s on #PSG’s shortlist, and talks have already taken place. Luis Campos is a big admirer of him. The 17-year-old midfielder is under contract at River Plate until 2026.”

Previously, it’s been suggested the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea have all been eyeing up the South American starlet.

But PSG’s interest could well be significant.

They have signed a number of Argentine players down the years and that could be a factor for Mastantuono when he comes to decide where he wants to play next.

PSG could also, of course, be about to win the Champions League, which may be a big lure for the player.

And should he move to the Parc des Princes, he would of course link up with Vitinha, a player Wolves were not willing to pay £17 million to sign permanently.

Wolves massively up against it to sign ‘phenomenon’ Mastantuono

The original report from Ole that suggested many clubs around Europe are keen on Mastantuono branded the youngster a ‘phenomenon’ for what he’s done so far in his career.

Breaking The Lines ran a feature on Mastantuono last summer, and made it very clear that he is a special young talent.

They said: “A magical left-footed right-winger breaking through with the #30 on his back – one might think of Lionel Messi.

“Despite being a different physical presence at 5’11” with a broad upper body, Mastantuono chose the number to pay homage to his childhood hero Messi. Though their profiles have vague similarities, they’re very different. Mastantuono is probably more likely to be a second striker profile.

“Mastantuono glides across the pitch effortlessly, constantly scanning to identify the spaces to exploit. His pinpoint vision allows him to spot even the smallest of openings in the opponent’s defence and deliver precise through balls to teammates in advanced positions.”

Wolves have had real joy raiding the South American market in recent times.

But it would be a major statement if Wanderers were to somehow get Mastantuono ahead of some of Europe’s leading clubs.
