‘Perfect secondary option to JSL’… Wolves fans want £10m Chelsea man signed, amid interest

There is still a lot of work to be done by Wolves before the new season starts – and the club may now be in for a Chelsea outcast.

Wolves kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester City in just over a week, and it’s safe to say a lot of fans are nervous for that game.

Because Wolves’ squad is a lot weaker now than it was last season, with a host of players having been offloaded.

Fer Lopez, Jhon Arias and David Moller Wolfe have all come in, but there is no telling how quickly they will all adapt – if at all.

More additions are required, and after the £5 million sale of Goncalo Guedes, there is scope for a new forward.

And one player Wolves are apparently now looking at is David Datro Fofana.

It seems Wolves have an eye on Chelsea at the moment, with Axel Disasi also linked.

The Blues are offloading a number of players at the moment, and it seems Fofana is someone they’re ready to move on.

Fofana joined Chelsea in 2023 from Molde, but has already had three loan spells, his latest being at Turkish side Goztepe.

But it seems Fofana finds himself in a situation where he’s not wanted at Stamford Bridge, and Wolves fans would love to see him head to Molineux.

@JackBarker277: “Be good this. Hasn’t lived up to the hype (yet) but he’s still young and has potential.”

@hector_rubini: “Bringgg.”

@DiggoryEthan: “People might not like this but as a backup to Larsen we could do a lot worse. Still young and got potential and had a decent loan period at Burnley in the Premier League a short while ago. Would be 100% for this.”

@jay_wwfc07: “I’m listening 🤔”

@JP_267: “Perfect secondary option to JSL. Poor primary option.”

@fedsgotJayden: “If he’s gonna be cheap then this should be a no brainer, do it.”

Fofana on loan with an option to buy would be ideal for Wolves

It sounds like Wolves don’t have Fofana too high on their agenda at the moment, but perhaps the club will make a late move.

Some Wolves fans were also against the signing of Fofana due to his recent injury record. The star suffered a meniscus injury last term while out on loan at Goztepe, forcing him to miss half the season.

But there is potential for this to be a good move by Wolves. If they can perhaps get him in on loan with an option to buy, then that would be ideal.

Wolves just lost Guedes and also arguably still need some back-up for Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Fofana, who cost Chelsea around £10 million (BBC Sport) – can play through the middle and out wide, so potentially he could be someone worth going after.

And Fofana’s Ivory Coast teammate Emmanuel Agbadou already at Molineux, perhaps the defender could help with any pursuit by Wolves.
