Paul Merson makes prediction for Wolves vs Arsenal

Wolves face Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday night.

It is a huge game, with Wanderers looking to leapfrog the Gunners in the table.

A perfect January for Wolves, and a rotten one for Arsenal, have brought the two teams to within two points of each other in the table.

But Wolves did lose in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The team put in a really disappointing performance at Molineux, which is not ideal heading into the game with Arsenal.

Hopefully there will be a decent response. Arsenal certainly aren’t a team to be feared.

Mark Lawrenson reckons Wolves will win the game 2-0.

But Paul Merson sees a different outcome involving his former team.

The pundit has made his own prediction and believes the spoils will be shared at Molineux.

Predicting a 1-1 draw, he said in his preview of the match for Sportskeeda: “Wolves are the Premier League’s dark horses at the moment. They’re winning football matches, and they could push for a top-four finish by winning their games in hand.

“If United and Spurs win their games, Wolves and Arsenal cannot afford to fall behind. This is a massive Premier League match for both teams.

“Wolves are a very solid team, and they’ve also started to score goals now. They’ve parted ways with Adama Traore in the transfer market and that’s a big loss for them. A draw isn’t a great result for either team, but this fixture may well produce one this week.

February will suggest if Wolves are true top four contenders

Wolves are indeed dark horses at the moment.

Things have been going very well. The team have started to score a few more goals as well as keep them out at the other end.

Merson is right to say that Traore is a big loss though.

We saw how Wanderers struggled against Norwich on Saturday. And it was made worse by the fact that Traore really starred for Barcelona the day after.

Wolves have games against teams in and around them in the table this month.

If the club are still within touching distance of the top four come the end of the month, then that would be reason for Wolves fans to get really excited.
