One club are already ‘confident’ about signing Fabio Silva this summer, it’s bad news for Wolves

Wolves loanee Fabio Silva has been making the headlines this season as he continues to shine in La Liga.

A permanent transfer was expected for Silva in the summer, however, the Portuguese forward remained on Wolves’ books.

The 22-year-old signed for UD Las Palmas and hasn’t looked back as Silva continues to impress in Spain, scoring eight league goals for the relegation-threatened club.

Back at Molineux, Vitor Pereira will have an eye on the level the striker is performing at this campaign, but his future is surely away from the West Midlands.

Celta Vigo confident of signing Fabio Silva

Silva has generated a lot of transfer interest amid his searing form, including European giants Atletico Madrid.

Another club has entered the fold, as reported by Spanish outlet Que, who shared Celta Vigo’s desire to sign the Wolves loanee.

While Celta Vigo understand that a deal for Silva ‘won’t be easy’ due to significant interest, the Spanish club are ‘confident’ that they can ‘present an attractive offer’ to Wolves to convince the player to make the move.

Several clubs in La Liga are charmed by the idea of signing the striker from Wolves in the summer, but what mustn’t be forgotten is that the Premier League club have control of the situation.

Wolves are keeping an eye on Silva amid his rise in the Spanish top flight, with Pereira yet to properly assess what the loanee could offer to his squad.

Though the 22-year-old is making waves in Spain, it’s clear that he thrives away from the demands of the Premier League, making a transfer the most likely outcome in the summer.

Celta Vigo’s interest in Fabio Silva isn’t good news for Wolves

Aside from the fact that the player hasn’t shown his quality in England, another reason for a likely transfer is the fact that Silva admitted he regretted joining Wolves as an 18-year-old.

For all the quality that the Portugal U21 international possesses, there will be a sense of relief once his future is decided once and for all from a Wolves point of view.

That being said, Wolves will want to find the best club for their player, given that the Old Gold paid £35m for his services.

What’s alarming about Celta Vigo’s confidence regarding their interest in Silva is that the Spanish side aren’t likely to offer Wolves an impressive fee.

Celta Vigo’s record signing was the purchase of Catanha in 2000, paying €14.4m for the player, a fee of £12.2m that hasn’t been replicated since.

Given the levels that Silva has been playing at over this season, Wolves would be expecting a far higher fee than Vigo’s record, something that the Spanish club will have to consider.
