Nuno Espirito Santo’s six-word reaction to Matheus Cunha links amid Wolves transfer speculation

Former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has commented on transfer links to Matheus Cunha.

Wolves are in trouble right now, not only in the Premier League but in the transfer window, according to reports.

Vitor Pereira admitted he didn’t want to sell any players this winter however, the manager might not get his wish.

Mario Lemina will not play until the transfer window ends due to the midfielder’s desire to leave, while Matheus Cunha is attracting interest from several clubs

Cunha is Wolves’ star player and is a figure the Old Gold could not imagine life without right now.

That being said, the Brazilian has been portrayed as a villain of sorts in recent days due to transfer attention from elsewhere.

Pereira was disappointed in Cunha’s behaviour against Chelsea and since that moment, transfer rumours regarding the forward’s future have multiplied.

Arsenal are admirers of Cunha but aren’t the only ones, as it was reported that Nottingham Forest have taken an interest in the superstar.

It was claimed that Forest are ready to break the bank to sign Cunha however, truth to such speculation has now been provided by a figure very close to the Old Gold.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo responded with six words when asked about links to Cunha.

“I don’t know anything about that,” Nuno pleaded with a surprised look on his face before apologising for having no idea about links.

“How can I comment about that? I’m so sorry to disappoint you,” he politely told a reporter.

The former Wolves manager’s response is a relief for those at Molineux, who would struggle to imagine both Nuno and Cunha impressing elsewhere after their careers in the West Midlands.

Nuno’s transfer comments display difference between Nottingham Forest and Wolves

While Nuno’s transparent and ever-endearing update will be appreciated at Molineux, the Portuguese only emphasised the difference between his current and former club.

Before commenting on the links to Cunha, Nuno admitted that it’s ‘not easy’ for him to locate players to improve his squad at present.

“It’s not easy, players that can improve us as a squad because our players are working very well.”

On the other hand, Pereira made it clear that his transfer wish will not come true, working on the opposite end of the spectrum, admitting early defeat in the market due to the difficulty of Wolves signing multiple players this month.

A wake-up call and relief came from Nuno’s admission, in what has been a rocky week for the Old Gold.
