Nuno Espirito Santo has singled out Rayan Ait-Nouri for praise, following a string of promising performances for Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent weeks.
The left-sided defender has found opportunities plentiful of late, with Jonny Castro Otto suffering another bad knee injury and Fernando Marcal having been sidelined with a groin issue.
Teenager Ait-Nouri has now started the last six Premier League games.
That means he’s now started 16 games for the club this season, and made 22 appearances in total.
That’s a pretty decent return from the youngster, who perhaps didn’t expect to play as much given the presence of Jonny and Marcal.
But injuries have allowed him chances, and it seems Nuno is currently liking what he is showing.
He said (via Express & Star): “There is improvement, and he’s playing.
“Regarding the circumstances we have in the squad, he’s having game after game now
So, there’s no better time for improvement than in the game itself.
“Of course, we work every day with all the players on the aspects that we feel need improvement.
“The defensive part of Rayan is one of those. So, the focus is there. He’s been doing well.”
Encouraging words for Ait-Nouri
It seems Ait-Nouri is making an impression in the eyes of Nuno.
Given Wolves have the chance to sign Ait-Nouri for around £20 million this summer (Express & Star), it is important for the 19-year-old to have a strong finish to the season if he wants that permanent move to Molineux.
It seems like he’s in with a reasonable chance.
The positive comments from Nuno might just suggest the course of action the club will take on the player.
