Wolves receive an update on Newcastle’s striker search amid links to Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Having only arrived at Wolves on a permanent basis this summer after a successful loan spell, no one saw Jorgen Strand Larsen leaving as a possibility.
But with how the striker market has shaped up for Newcastle, they have had to look in all possible places as they scramble to make a signing. They registered their interest in Strand Larsen last week, leading Wolves to issue a £65 million asking price.

Wolves fans have seen how slow the club can be at times in navigating transfer business, so there’s no guarantee such a big loss would be replaced in time.
Newcastle are edging closer to Yoane Wissa and Randal Kolo Muani amid interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen
Given the shortage of attackers at Wolves, selling is the last thing they should be doing.
It may come as a relief then to hear the news emerging from Tyneside. Sky Sports’ Keith Downie revealed on Friday that Newcastle were close to a deal with Brentford for Yoane Wissa.
And if that wasn’t enough to ease the worry over Strand Larsen, Florian Plettenberg also revealed that the Magpies have opened negotiations with Randal Kolo Muani.
While neither deal is official, it does suggest that Strand Larsen is further down the list of priorities, as no talks have progressed on the deal.
Wolves don’t want to sell Jorgen Strand Larsen
Despite naming a price, Wolves don’t want to sell Strand Larsen. Having already lost Matheus Cunha, Vitor Pereira needs goals and the former Celta Vigo man certainly knows how to put the ball in the net.
Naturally, if an offer comes in that is too big to turn down, we could be having a different conversation.
But Wolves need to be very careful in any sales they are considering for the remainder of the window. The squad is lacking depth in many positions, and incomings are far more urgently needed than outgoings.
In the case of Strand Larsen, the money you might get for him may not offset the damage that his departure could do to Wolves’ season.
