Wolves winger Adama Traore is out of contract next summer.
The Spaniard stands to leave Molineux as a free agent, which would be a huge frustration given the player’s market value only a couple of years ago.
He’s given no indication that he’d be willing to sign an extension.
Julen Lopetegui has come in as the new manager and the picture could potentially change.
But Traore will turn 27 in January, meaning he’s about to come into his prime years. It’s very possible he’ll want to move on from Wolves for those years.
He likely won’t be short of suitors.
But there’s one club that could really appeal to him.
Napoli have recently been linked with the former Barcelona man. The current league leaders of Serie A supposedly want to sign him next summer.
It’s possible that any hopes Wolves have of keeping Traore may be extinguished by Newcastle.
That’s because they’re keen to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is one of the hottest prospects in Europe at the moment. The Magpies. The Times say he is valued at around £50 million.
Newcastle buying Kvaratskhelia could be bad news for Wolves if they want Traore to sign new contract
If Napoli lose the brilliant Kvaratskhelia, then the Italian giants will surely want to replace him with someone fairly similar.
And Traore is a player that is not so dissimilar from the Georgia international.
He is super dribbler and brings that X-factor just like Traore.
If Napoli and Newcastle come to some kind of agreement in advance of the next summer window, then the Italians might say to Traore that they want him to replace him. This could discourage him from signing a new deal with Wolves
