New Joao Gomes to Crystal Palace claim made as Wolves man shortlisted in bid to keep Oliver Glasner

Joao Gomes’ future has been up in the air ever since Manchester United’s interest was made known, but a few weeks back, Crystal Palace emerged as contenders for his signature – now a fresh claim has been made.

The Eagles seem to be interested in quite a few Old Gold players, with Jorgen Strand Larsen also a target for Glasner.

The London club’s head coach has been making clear that he wants reinforcements as Crystal Palace look to win the Europa Conference League, and that could end up spilling in Wolves’ way.

Joao Gomes was watched by Matt Hobbs, formerly of Wolves and now at the Eagles, just a few weeks back.

However, now a new report has come out, and it could signal bad news for the Wanderers.

Oliver Glasner’s future at Crystal Palace looks to be heading towards the Austrian departing the club after the season.

However, the London club are desperate to keep him on, and that may end up harming Wolves.

According to the Daily Mail, Palace are looking to bolster three positions in an effort to convince their head coach to remain following the end of the campaign. Among those positions is a central midfielder, with Joao Gomes’ name dropped.

The report by the outlet says, “Palace may look to bring in a central midfielder, with Kamada likely to miss 10 weeks with the hamstring injury he suffered against Man City last month. Wolves’ Joao Gomes and Kevin Danois of Auxerre are two names that have been floated.”

Earlier in his tenure, Rob Edwards was told that none of Wolves’ top stars would be sold, but recently he admitted the Wanderers may have to sell to buy.

Gomes could be one of those players, but the recent breaking Premier League news could be key in keeping him.

Oliver Glasner’s uncertain future could help Wolves

With Oliver Glasner’s role at Crystal Palace up in the air, the Old Gold may have the advantage if they come in for the Brazilian.

The Austrian head coach is now a target for Manchester United after Ruben Amorim was sacked, another of the clubs looking to snap the Wolves player up.

That now leaves both of his most linked destinations with uncertain futures.

There is a world where Glasner moves to Old Trafford in the summer, and then he comes in for the midfielder.

However, from the player’s perspective, he will want to join a stable project, rather than one that has a short lifespan of a few months.
