New David Brooks transfer claim as Wolves seek January recruits for Rob Edwards

Wolves are expected to be busy in the January transfer window, with a new claim emerging about Bournemouth’s David Brooks among others.

The Old Gold are in real trouble at the moment after taking just two points from their first 11 Premier League games.

Most people have put this down to poor recruitment in the summer.

Wolves had a restructure in mid-June which led to the departure of Matt Hobbs as sporting director, with Domenico Teti coming in as his replacement in a slightly different role.

Teti and Vitor Pereira were at the forefront of Wolves’ recruitment operations, with the club bending to their desires.

It has since been claimed that Wolves’ recruitment team had been frustrated over their work on targets being overlooked – but they are now set for greater influence again under Rob Edwards.

And with the January transfer window creeping closer, a few potential targets have been suggested.

At the moment Wolves have a creativity problem.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has really struggled this term and while he has come in for some criticism, the service for him has not been great.

Liam Keen has previously said that Wolves may seek a number 10 or winger in January, and now the Daily Mail have suggested that David Brooks could be on the agenda for the Old Gold.

Brooks was a player Wolves showed interest in the summer. It was claimed that former sporting director Matt Hobbs had been working on a move for Brooks but ultimately nothing materialised, and then of course, Wolves had a restructure leading to Hobbs’ exit.

But the Daily Mail now report that Brooks could be someone Wolves go back in for in January, depending on his involvement at Bournemouth.

So far, Brooks has featured fairly prominently for the Cherries, making 11 appearances for nearly 600 minutes. Therefore, it could be a challenge for Wolves to prise him away from the Vitality Stadium.

Dwight McNeil and Harrison Reed touted as options for Wolves

As well as Brooks, a couple more players have been suggested by the Daily Mail as potential targets for Wolves.

There is likely to be a focus on players who can fill homegrown player slots, and Dwight McNeil of Everton, and Fulham’s Harrison Reed are two names mentioned in the report.

Both are out of favour at their clubs, and the suggestion is that Wolves could look at potential loan deals.

McNeil has made just six appearances so far this season, and has struggled for minutes competing with the likes of Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye. It remains to be seen though if David Moyes would be willing to sanction any move.

And Reed has made even fewer appearances than that, turning out three times so far for Fulham.

Wolves are crying out for a new midfielder, and Reed may fit the bill.
