Nelson Semedo could play European football in 2025/26 as club open talks, his salary demand has been shared

Nelson Semedo’s time as a Wolves player is pretty much over now.

There has not yet been official word from Wolves after his contract expired, meaning he is now a free agent.

But Vitor Pereira has said Wolves are actively looking to replace Semedo, who has had a four-year contract offer on the table for weeks.

If Semedo was going to extend he would surely have done so by now and joined up with the rest of the squad out in Portugal for pre-season training.

But he is all set to become yet another high profile exit at Molineux.

And today, there has been word about where he would play his football next season.

It has been reported by Turkish outlet Sozcu that Besiktas are now in talks with Semedo over a free transfer.

Besiktas were linked with Semedo earlier in the window, but it all went rather quiet and then, they made a beeline for Kyle Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters had actually been all set to sign, but Besiktas pulled the plug after the player had requested an extension after being invited for his medical there.

Walker-Peters has now joined West Ham United, meaning Besiktas are still hunting for a new right-back – hence them going back in for Semedo.

Sozcu claim talks are on between club and player, and that Semedo is currently demanding a £3.5 million salary, with a £3.5 million signing-on bonus.

Should Semedo make this move, then he could ultimately play in the Europa League in 2025/26, with Besiktas facing Shakhtar Donetsk in their second round qualifying match.

Wolves must move rapidly to replace Semedo

So Semedo appears to be back in the sights of Besiktas which is probably no real surprise given the Walker-Peters development.

Wolves have got to move quickly now that the picture has become clear with Semedo.

The contract offer to him must be withdrawn if it hasn’t already been, and Wanderers must press ahead with signing a replacement.

Marc Pubill is a target for Wolves, who have been in talks with Almeria over the player. But AC Milan also want him, so Wanderers need to be quick and decisive.

With pre-season having already started, a replacement must be signed as quickly as possible, with the 2025/26 season now less than one month away.
