Wolves defender Nasser Djiga is wanted back by his old club Red Star Belgrade this summer, after an upturn in form at loan club Rangers.
Djiga joined the Scottish giants last summer, with then-manager Vitor Pereira determining that opportunities at Wolves could be hard to come by.
He joined midway through last season, but found it difficult to make an impression.
Wolves loaned him out, and initially Djiga had a tricky start at Ibrox.
But lately, Djiga’s recent performances have shifted the conversation away from development and towards immediate value.
Against Aberdeen he was handed an 8/10 rating by the Daily Record, and generally under Danny Rohl he has been much more solid, compared to Russell Martin earlier in the campaign.
He has delivered a level of consistency that was not present earlier in the season, and that progress has placed him firmly into the club’s defensive plans in recent weeks, amid the club’s push for the title.
And Djiga’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed ahead of the summer.
Nasser Djiga wanted by Red Star Belgrade

That shift in status has now drawn external attention, with his former club Red Star Belgrade moving to re-enter the picture. According to Sport Klub, the Serbian outfit want him back this summer.
Red Star, of course, only offloaded Djiga to Wolves just over a year ago in a £10 million deal (via BBC Sport).
It’s suggested that Red Star chiefs are confident that an agreement with Wolves can be struck that will see the defender return to the Rajko Mitic Stadium.
But Djiga’s former manager Alexander Frei has urged him to stay at Rangers.
He is quoted by the Daily Record as saying: “I’d like to see him stay at Rangers longer now. It’s a fantastic club for him. In Scotland, the choice is always Rangers or Celtic but both are very good teams.
“For Nasser, in the future he can go back to play in the Premier League. But I say to young players all the time, it’s no good for your career to change clubs seven times or make seven loan moves. They have to decide, this is my team. Play three years, then decide on your next step.”
“I think Nasser has to make that decision now. He’s still only 23 and he has moved too much. He’s had too many clubs already. I’d like to see him settle down in Scotland. He must find the club where he can really grow up and play a lot of games.”
Wolves facing decision on a Championship-ready defender
Any decision will ultimately sit with Wolves, who still hold his contract and must determine his role next season.
His loan spell has provided them with updated evidence of his readiness for English football.

Djiga’s physical profile gives him a clear pathway into Championship football, where defensive duels and aerial strength are essential. His recent performances suggest he’d be comfortable in the English second tier.
Wolves now face a choice between integrating him into their squad, selling him to Rangers, or sanctioning a return to Red Star.
The decision won’t be a simple one, but surely Rob Edwards will want to take a look at him before making the call.
