Max Kilman might just have sent a clear message about his Wolves future

Speculation has been rife about Wolves captain Max Kilman recently, and the defender may now have given an indication as to what he wants to happen this summer.

Kilman has just finished his first season as club captain, after he assumed the armband from Ruben Neves last summer.

Neves left to join Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, in a move that netted Wolves around £47 million. Kilman was then elected as the new skipper at Molineux.

He has admitted it took him by surprise how much responsibility the role brought about. But Kilman did a good job in 2023/24, and he did put in some impressive performances.

Just lately, there has been some talk about Kilman’s future at Wolves. Apparently, West Ham United are keen to sign him, and previously there have been reports of interest from Manchester United.

Seemingly though, Kilman doesn’t intend to go anywhere this summer…

Kilman was the most-used player for Gary O’Neil in 2023/24, playing every single minute of the club’s Premier League campaign. he was one of just two outfield players in the Premier League to do this, the other being William Saliba of Arsenal.

Kilman was a mainstay, as he has been now for the past two seasons.

He perhaps wasn’t as good as he was in the 2021/22 season when he played on the right of a back three under Bruno Lage.

But Kilman was still fairly solid at times, and other clubs have taken note.

But it sounds very much as though Kilman has no intention of leaving the club this summer, as he gave a new interview with the club. He states that he simply ‘loves’ Wolves.

He said: “I’ve been here for a while now and I want to carry on doing what I’m doing and keep being the best I can. I love this club so much, so I just want to carry on.”

Leaving doesn’t seem an option for Kilman right now

These are some fairly strong comments from Kilman, who probably would not make them if there was an exit on the cards for him this summer.

Of course, this does not mean that Kilman will definitely stay.

We saw last summer how the club cashed in on Nathan Collins, who has since admitted that he never wanted to leave the club. That showed Fosun will do what they will do.

If a huge offer comes in for Kilman it will probably be considered.

But obviously, the player has to give the green light, and it doesn’t particularly sound like Kilman would do that – at least at the moment, from the sounds of what he’s said.

We will see what happens. But surely, the likes of Pedro Neto and Rayan Ait-Nouri are more likely to depart Molineux than Kilman this summer.
