Matt Hobbs believes midfielder Joao Gomes could end up attracting interest this summer, following a brilliant first full season so far at Molineux.
The Brazilian has been fantastic in the middle of the park since replacing Ruben Neves alongside Mario Lemina.
Gomes has been heavily involved so far, making 26 appearances for the club across all competitions.
The 23-year-old has come in for regular praise from supporters for his performances in the engine room alongside Mario Lemina, and he recently had his best outing against Tottenham Hotspur, against whom he scored a brace. Danny Murphy branded him and Lemina ‘outstanding’ that day.
Gomes is definitely on an exciting trajectory right now – and Hobbs believes he could well be fielding some enquiries before too long…
Matt Hobbs admits there is likely to be interest in Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes

Some fresh quotes from Hobbs have emerged today, with the sporting director having given an interview about Gary O’Neil and the way things around going at the club.
Hobbs, like most fans, has been delighted with the progress of the team, and how O’Neil has improved so many players.
He says that he would be surprised if there wasn’t interest in O’Neil as a result of what he has done, just as he wouldn’t be surprised about interest in any of his players.
He then mentioned £30,000-a-week star Gomes, saying (E&S): “You have to expect someone will come in for Joao Gomes. Do I think Joao wants to go? No. But the way he is playing, there will be clubs watching him for sure. I know there are. But we have been doing work for the last year to have a replacement ready if he goes.”
Previously this year, it was reported that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in signing Gomes.
Gomes will have clubs interested
It really would be no surprise if bids came in for Gomes this summer, because he has the potential to be a special player.
Dave Edwards recently suggested that he is the best ball-winner he has ever seen at Wolves, and his tenacity and energy just make him a nightmare to come up against.
He has a brilliant knack of picking the opponent’s pocket, and he really does stand to become a top Premier League player – if he isn’t already.
Hobbs seems to suggest that clubs have already expressed interest to him about the player.
Perhaps then, he may need to be next for a new contract to Molineux – it would certainly be a major shame if he was poached.
