Wolves striker Fabio Silva has sent a heartfelt message to Anderlecht fans, as he prepares for a new chapter with PSV Eindhoven.
The youngster is embarking on a second loan spell of the season, and is linking up with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.
Silva is now ready for a new challenge, after scoring 11 goals for the club across all competitions.
It was a decent stint for Silva in Belgium.
He made a particularly bright start, scoring three goals in his first four league matches.
Silva has now moved on from Anderlecht. There had been some suggestions of a falling out with head coach Brian Riemer, but he has denied that.
It doesn’t seem as though anything particularly bad has happened.
Today, Wolves have announced Silva’s move to PSV and sporting director Matt Hobbs has shed some light on the decision.
He told the club’s official website: “We were concerned if they (Anderlecht) don’t progress in certain competitions, they won’t have many fixtures with how their system works, and having an international tournament in the summer, it was important Fabio plays regularly.”
Anderlecht have struggled as a collective this season. They are currently languishing in 11th place in the league table.
Silva yesterday posted quite a heartfelt message on social media to the Anderlecht fans.
He said: “I want to share my gratitude with this amazing club and their supporters. They believed and trusted me at a time when many doubted.”
He went on to say that he would always support them, and called them the biggest club in Belgium.
He’ll now spend the reason of the season with PSV, and hope to get back among goals. The main thing though is that he gets regular game time.
And potentially Silva could become part of a title charge. At the moment, third-placed PSV are three points behind leaders Feyenoord.
A fresh start for Fabio Silva as PSV officially announce they signed Wolves striker on loan
So Silva is officially a PSV player now, and hopefully he can hit the ground running quickly.
It hadn’t been too clear as to why Silva has left Anderlecht. But Hobbs has now shed a little bit of light on the situation.
Seemingly, it was just logistical reasons why a new move for Silva has been facilitated.
A move to PSV should be good for him.
Working with van Nistelrooy and potentially pushing for a league title will surely be a great experience.
