Matheus Cunha, Nelson Semedo and others react on Instagram as Mario Lemina leaves Wolves

It’s official – Mario Lemina is no longer a Wolves player.

Wolves and Galatasaray last night confirmed that Lemina has joined the Turkish club, after much speculation in recent days.

Lemina’s exit had been on the cards for some time.

The Gabon international made just one substitute appearance under Vitor Pereira, and Lemina refused to play against Newcastle United which was the beginning of the end for him at Molineux.

He had been lined up for a move to Saudi Arabia, but that didn’t materialise.

In the end, Lemina completed a move to Turkey.

Last night, Lemina sent a lengthy goodbye message to Wolves fans on social media – and the post got quite a big reaction as expected.

And here are some of the comments left by his now former Wolves teammates.

Lemina leaves Wolves after two years at the club.

The Gabon international arrived in the January 2023 window and played a huge role in helping to keep Wolves in the Premier League that season.

He then won Supporters’ Player of the Season at the end of last season, and his stock couldn’t be higher.

But it all fell apart for Lemina in the last few months of the current season, and he has now officially left.

Despite leaving a lot of fans furious with his recent behaviour, it seems he’s still quite popular in the eyes of several Wolves players, who commented on his Instagram post last night:

Cunha also left a gif of the pair celebrating together in the tunnel at Molineux.

Lemina threw away cult hero potential

Despite the warm nature of these messages from the Wolves players, it has been really disappointing to watch Lemina’s exit from Wolves unfold.

There are ways to go about leaving a club.

Refusing to play is simply unacceptable, and what Lemina did is made even worse because Wolves could have really done with him.

Goals – 6
Assists – 5

It’s been a time of need, and he wasn’t there.

It is such a shame, because this was a player who enjoyed a fantastic first year-and-a-half at the club.

Perhaps details about what’s really gone on with him this season will eventually emerge that will provide some context. But right now, many fans are pleased he’s departed.
