Major development in Matheus Cunha saga – Real Madrid are now indirectly involved in Wolves forward’s future

Wolves do not want to lose any of their best players when they’re embroiled in such a dogfight at the bottom of the table.

The Old Gold sit nervously close to the relegation zone, separated from Ipswich Town only by goals scored.

The future of Matheus Cunha will likely determine where Wolves play their football next season.

Vitor Pereira reiterated Cunha is not for sale during his pre-Arsenal press conference but there has since been another twist in the ongoing saga.

Enemy club latest to want Matheus Cunha

Cunha is already wanted by six Premier League clubs, and now a seventh has joined the queue.

According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have set their sights on Wolves’ number 10 and could make a move if one of their own forwards moves on before Deadline Day.

Jhon Duran has emerged as a target for Al-Nassr. However, even though the Saudi Pro League club have huge funds available to splash, it remains unknown how much it would take for Villa to agree a deal.

Duran is also on Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain’s radars. Madrid, undoubtedly the club with the biggest pull, will attempt to loan Endrick, making a potential move for Duran more achievable.

Should these pieces come together, and Endrick depart the Santiago Bernabeu and Duran leave Villa Park, then Cunha’s future in the Midlands will also be cast further into doubt.

Worst possible club

There is obviously no chance Wolves’ biggest rivals — West Brom — will sign Cunha but the next worst club could.

Villa are one of the Old Gold’s biggest rivals and the possibility of seeing their best player, and potentially the difference-maker when it comes to relegation, move across town, will make some fans sick to their stomachs.

Villa are in a much better position, both in the league and financially, but there is no way Fosun can allow this proposed deal to go through.

Even though fans don’t want to lose Cunha, given the choice, they would rather him go to literally any other side other than the Villains.
