Lopetegui wants to look at £21 million Wolves player but he wants exit

Julen Lopetegui is reportedly keen to take a look at Fabio Silva in pre-season, despite the player intending to leave Wolves amid interest from Sevilla.

Silva has not yet returned to pre-season, having been in action with the Portugal U21s along with Pedro Neto.

But Wolves are now done with their training camp in Portugal and will begin the next phase of their preparations.

Silva has been away from Wolves since last summer, having spent 2022/23 out on loan.

He started the season with Anderlecht, and then moved to PSV Eindhoven.

Silva particularly enjoyed his time with the Dutch club, stating publicly a couple of times that he would be happy to stay.

The narrative about Silva for the past few weeks has been that he wants to leave.

But apparently, Lopetegui wants to assess him.

Lazio are looking to do a loan-to-buy deal, with Wolves apparently valuing Silva at about £21 million.

It is stated that Wanderers would simply prefer to sell.

But it is then added that Lopetegui is actually keen to have a look at Silva in pre-season.

That is despite Silva’s intention to leave the club this summer.

Lopetegui’s old club Sevilla are said to have made contact with Wolves over the player to see if a deal can be done.

Earlier this summer, Silva’s agent suggested that his client was looking for an exit from Molineux, questioning the treatment of the youngster by the club.

It would be a shame if Fabio Silva left Wolves this summer

Silva leaving Wolves this summer would be a great shame.

He’s just had a productive season out on loan, and did exactly what Wolves officials had hoped he would, which was play regularly and score some goals.

He had it tough in his first two seasons at Wolves.

It was clear that he wasn’t quite ready, and he really needed that chance to develop further.

He’s now a more mature player than when he first arrived at Wolves.

It’s a shame that he seemingly wants to go, especially since Lopetegui is apparently keen to look at him.

We shall see what transpires, but hopefully he is willing to reconsider. Because it could be his time to shine at Molineux if he stuck it out.
