Some Liverpool fans have been left wondering why Ki-Jana Hoever was allowed to leave the club to join Wolves.
The Dutchman pitched up at Molineux in the summer, at the same time Diogo Jota headed to Anfield.
BBC Sport reported that the 18-year-old cost Wolves around £13.5 million all in.
It’s been a slow start so far, with Hoever only just making his first Premier League start at the end of 2020 against Manchester United.
He put in a brilliant performance against the Red Devils, and was somewhat unlucky to lose his place in the starting XI against Brighton on Saturday.
He certainly showed that he is ready for minutes in the Premier League, and Semedo will have to be at the top of his game to keep the youngster at bay.
Hoever’s name was all over Twitter once again last night, despite Wolves not even being in action.
That was because Liverpool were, and the Reds slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Southampton, with Trent Alexander-Arnold putting in one of his worst displays for some time.
The England international gave the ball away a remarkable 38 times at St. Mary’s, which is the highest by a player in a Premier League game so far this season.
It was certainly an off night for the 22-year-old, and some Liverpool fans have voiced their concerns about his form generally this season.
It led some to question the sale of Hoever, who might well have provided the competition he perhaps needs right now:
Maybe we should have kept Hoever…

We let a better right back go to wolves and keep Williams who can’t get in in front of Milner at least Hoever would push TAA who seems to think all he needs to do is turn up

Problem is he can continue to perform horribly and know there is absolutely no pressure on him from the bench…Neco and Milner are poor options…Hoever should never have been sold and would have provided ample cover at CB too…VERY poor management…Klopp is no tactician
