Liverpool capture Wolves youngster described as a ‘complete midfielder’ for seven-figure fee

Wolves have seen the departure of another promising youngster, with Liverpool set to pay £2 million in compensation.

Departures this summer have been one of the major talking points at Wolves. Gary O’Neil has lost both Pedro Neto and Max Kilman for a combined fee of over £90 million.

However, throughout 2024, Wolves’ academy has also seen multiple talents depart the club seeking brighter pastures.

Now, Wolves have lost another after Alvin Ayman secured a permanent move to Liverpool.

Wolves youngster Alvin Ayman signs for Liverpool for £2 million

Ayman was highly rated at Wolves. The 16-year-old was one of many youngsters who were on O’Neil’s radar throughout the season as he looked to progress their careers.

The midfielder was given match-day experience last season as he travelled with the squad to the Etihad to face Man City. Although he didn’t make it onto the bench, it signified how much the Wolves manager rated the youngster.

However, despite only being at the Old Gold for a year, he has now left the club to sign for Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday morning that Liverpool have completed the deal to sign Ayman. The signing has received the Premier League’s five-step approval with Wolves set to earn £2 million in compensation.

Another big loss for Wolves’ academy

Despite the chances O’Neil has been giving Wolves’ youngsters in the first team, the club has been struggling to hold down its best talents.

Earlier this year, Brayden Clarke signed for Arsenal while Wesley Okoduwa was strongly linked to Chelsea earlier in the transfer window.

Wolves simply cannot allow some of their best talents to leave the club if they want to progress.

Ayman was described as a ‘complete midfielder’ with a fantastic work rate but sadly, the club will now never see him reach his full potential in Old Gold colours.

If Wolves want to become ‘self-sufficient’ they must do more to keep their upcoming talents as they would no doubt help the club save plenty of money on transfers in the long run.
