Ligue 1 side now dreaming of signing £9.5m Wolves star in last weeks of transfer window

Wolves are said to be willing to give new boss Gary O’Neil the opportunity to make minor adjustments to his squad.

These changes however are expected to only happen if Old Gold can sell some players.

According to The Athletic, departures from the Molineux should be expected with multiple names tipped as potential out-goings.

Defender Jonny and forward Daniel Podence are both expected to be the two most likely departures, which could raise funds for a Nico Elvedi move.

Another name mentioned as a potential departure is Rayan Ait-Nouri, however it was previously reported he was more a loan option for most clubs.

However that could be about to change according to reports which state that a Ligue 1 side are ‘hot’ on Ait-Nouri.

Nice considering a move for Ait-Nouri

Wolves’ Algerian full-back, Ait-Nouri has long been a target for OGC Nice, dating back to last winter.

However no move materialised which has left the French side still chasing their target, now with Wolves in need of sales, a move could be on.

FootMercato report that Nice are not yet finished chasing Ait-Nouri and in fact ‘still dream’ of recruiting him before the transfer window slams shut.

The 22-year-old isn’t in as bad a situation at Wolves as he was last winter, which could see him less desperate to move.

However it appears likely Nice at least try to bring him to the south of France.

Should Wolves sell?

Wolves are relatively stacked in the left-back department, which would make selling Ait-Nouri one of the better options they have.

Hugo Bueno is clearly a big talent and seems destined to be the regular starter in that spot which could sooner or later make the Algerian unneeded anyway.

Therefore with the fee they could demand for Ait-Nouri being substantial, they should look into the prospect of this.

Due to their desperation to sell someone, they likely wouldn’t get full market value, but a fee of £15million would be a brilliant recoup.

Especially with Elvedi costing less than that, for a player who could seriously improve the team.
