Ligue 1 club now want to sign £9.5m Wolves player who has rarely started under Gary O’Neil

Following the sale of Max Kilman to West Ham United, it has now been reported that another player from Wolves is being targeted by another club.

Wolves completed their first sale of the summer last week, and brought in £40 million for Kilman.

This was seen as a great bit of business by the could, with Kilman being sold for pretty much pure profit.

But it is expected that more sales will now follow.

Pedro Neto could be the next ‘big’ departure.

But there could potentially be an exit for a player who has not been spoken about very much at all this summer – and that player, is Boubacar Traore.

It has been reported by one of France’s biggest outlets L’Equipe that Boubacar Traore has now emerged as a target for Ligue 1 club Lens

The club are said to be studying the feasibility of signing Traore at the moment.

Traore, of course, joined Wolves from FC Metz two years ago, signing on loan initially. So he has already experienced playing in the French top-flight.

Traore has struggled for starts at Molineux since signing for the club.

He has made 38 appearances for the club, with most of those coming from the bench. Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes have been firmly established in the engine room for Wolves, and then Gary O’Neil often turns to Tommy Doyle as his next option.

But that said, Traore did put in some promising performances towards the end of last season.

Wolves should look to keep Traore

It would be a bit of a shame to see Traore go, because there definitely looks a player there.

He has actually been really unlucky at Wolves in terms of starting matches regularly because Lemina and Gomes have both been so good and are clearly the favoured partnership for O’Neil.

They are similar players to Traore, so his life is made difficult. He has only made seven starts under O’Neil in the Premier League so far.

It would be nice to see him stay, because he is a great replacement should one of Lemina or Gomes pick up an injury or suspension.

O’Neil called him ‘excellent’ after he had started him against Arsenal back in April, and the manager also admitted in March ‘I’m really excited by what he could be’.

So despite his lack of starts, it’s clear he is a player who is on the manager’s radar, and hopefully he can have more of an impact at Molineux this coming season.
