Wolves’ journalist Liam Keen has suggested the Old Gold may have to sell a player he believed was the ‘best defender’ against West Ham.
Over the last few days, transfer activity at Molineux has spiked with Fosun working on adding more quality to the squad.
The owners have also told Strand Larsen how likely a move away is, as his future remains up in the air.
However, the Premier League’s homegrown quota could remain a sticking point for any future business, and the Wolves journalist believes one player could leave to alleviate concerns.

Liam Keen says Santiago Bueno could leave Wolves this summer
After the signing of Ladislav Krejci was confirmed, journalist Liam Keen believes Wolves may have to let a centre-back leave, and that could be Santiago Bueno.
Speaking on the Express & Star Wolves Podcast, Keen says (27:53), ‘Someone has to go by the wayside,’ before eventually landing on Bueno’s name stating, ‘Santi Bueno sort of becomes that final forgotten man.’
He admits that while he was ‘impressed’ by the Uruguayan against West Ham, and that he was the ‘best defender on that day’, Wolves’ need to make room in the squad for non homegrown players could force a deal.
The journalist goes on to say (29:18), ‘But then [selling] someone like Santi to make a bit of space, a bit of room, might be someone that goes and also someone that will want to go and play as well. That could be a deal that they do.’
Wolves are currently in the market for both a central midfielder and a centre-forward, but those moves could be influenced by the homegrown quota.
Wolves running out of space for foreign players in squad
Wolves currently only have one more space for a foreign player, and with strong links to Tolu Arokodare, that means they may have to sign a homegrown midfielder.
However, if Fosun are able to ship Santiago Bueno for a decent fee, that will open the door for another foreign player to come in, and widen the scope of the market.
Wolves were previously targeting Carlos Soler, however, they have lost the race with the Spanish midfielder joining Real Sociedad instead.
Wolves were also pushing hard for Marc Casado, but the player does not wish to leave Barcelona, and Hansi Flick wants him to stay.
Time will tell who exactly Wolves end up with in midfield, but it is looking to be a busy few days before the deadline.
