Having joined the club permanently at the start of the summer, Wolves fans may be surprised to see Jorgen Strand Larsen’s name come up in transfer discussions.
Newcastle have registered their interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen as they try to navigate a fiasco of a transfer window in which Alexander Isak has become unsettled, and any attempt to sign a replacement has failed.
Manchester United have beaten them to Benjamin Sesko. Liverpool to Hugo Ekitike. Chelsea to Joao Pedro. And so on.
That’s why the Magpies have turned their attention to Strand Larsen, with Wolves even naming their price for the Norwegian.
Now, as Wolves shop around for a striker, speculation is growing around the future of their current main man up top.
Liam Keen says Wolves not looking to sell Jorgen Strand Larsen despite links to Matthis Abline
After so many big departures, Vitor Pereira is running a skeleton crew in the forward areas.
That’s why Wolves are pursuing Matthis Abline, a Ligue 1 striker capable of playing across the frontline. This addition does not mean that Strand Larsen is being forgotten, he’s getting backup. As Liam Keen writes for E&S: “Wolves wanting to sign a striker does not mean they will sell Jorgen Strand Larsen, however.
“The Norwegian is wanted by Newcastle but Wolves’ stance remains that he is not for sale.”
Wolves don’t need any more vacancies with the season right around the corner, and unless Newcastle can blow them away with a mammoth offer, Strand Larsen will be leading the line at Molineux next season.
Wolves’ £65m asking price for Strand Larsen is perfectly reasonable
The 2025 summer transfer window will be remembered for one thing, the striker frenzy.
It feels like every top club in England was/is on the hunt for a new number nine. Wolves’ sale of Matheus Cunha to Manchester United was the first of many high-profile forward moves.
Player | Buyer | Fee (incl. add-ons) |
Joao Pedro | Chelsea | £60m |
Liam Delap | Chelsea | £30m |
Benjamin Sesko | Manchester United | £74m |
Matheus Cunha | Manchester United | £62.5m |
Hugo Ekitike | Liverpool | £79m |
Viktor Gyokeres | Arsenal | £63.5m |
Unlike many names on this list, Strand Larsen has proven himself in the Premier League, scoring 14 goals for Wolves last season.
At 25, he is entering his prime years, and Wolves should realistically keep him despite the temptation of a large fee. But if they are to sell, £65 million feels like the bare minimum.
