Wolves have stepped up their game in the transfer window this week, but there has been little new information about the future of Goncalo Guedes.
After the signing of David Moller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar, Wolves have been linked to another couple of defenders.
Vitor Pereira has restated his interest in Robert Renan, a Brazilian centre-back he has worked with in the past, and there has also been some progress made on a deal for Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez.
But further up the pitch, one outgoing move has lost steam. Earlier this week, Record reported that a Goncalo Guedes move to Real Sociedad was ‘only a matter of time’.
But Guedes has been heavily involved in pre-season, even scoring against RC Lens, and with no word on an advancement in the deal, it now looks less of a nailed-on move.

Liam Keen claims Goncalo Guedes to Real Sociedad was ‘never happening’
Speaking on the E&S Wolves podcast, Keen spoke with Nathan Judah about the Guedes situation, saying: “There’s still a chance he goes, but everything we’ve been told is that that move was never happening.”
While interest may be there from the Sociedad side, it appears Wolves have not engaged in serious discussions over a move.
By all appearances, Guedes is happy at Wolves, and the club are not so well-stocked in attack that they will feel a need to get the Portugal international off their books.
But a move is not out of the question, as Keen explains: “In three weeks time, if Sociedad come in with a bid, of course he might go.”
Wolves need attackers in before considering Goncalo Guedes sale
While getting a fee for an ageing Guedes is a good idea on paper, Vitor Pereira and co. need to be careful about over-exposing themselves by letting numerous attackers go.
With Fabio Silva on the way out and Matheus Cunha gone too, Wolves are edging towards a problem.

Add to that fresh speculation over Jorgen Strand Larsen’s future, and you start to see a worst-case scenario that does not bode well for the start of the season, where Wolves have traditionally struggled.
All that to say, Wolves need to sign another attacker or two. If they can get new names in the door, that may be when the Guedes discussions can pick up again.
