Wolves are scrambling to get new signings in before Monday’s transfer deadline – and there has been an intriguing development over one of the club’s targets.
Vitor Pereira is hopeful of strengthening the squad to the tune of three or four new players.
A new centre-back, a defensive midfielder, a forward and a striker are on the agenda. But whether Wolves actually make four signings is another thing.
Another new centre-back seems to be the top priority and one man Wolves are really keen on is Kevin Danso.
Wolves have had two bids rejected for Danso, but are thought to be ready to make a third. Lens are seeking around £25 million for the player.
Rennes also want to sign Danso, and Aston Villa have also been linked as well.
Tonight, there has been a development with Danso that could potentially be quite telling.
Wolves target Kevin Danso to be left out of Lens’ travelling squad to face Montpellier

Lens have confirmed tonight that Danso will not be part of the squad to face Montpellier in a Ligue 1 match tomorrow night.
Earlier today, the French club named the 21 players that will make the trip and three players – Danso, Nampalys Mendy and David Pereira Da Costa are absent ‘by choice of the coach’ according to lensois.com.
All three players’ futures are in doubt currently. Mendy had been invited to find a new challenge, Da Costa is said to be considering an offer from Portland to play in the MLS, while Danso is wanted by Wolves and Rennes.
It’s not thought Danso is missing the game through any kind of injury. Danso did miss Lens’ last game against Angers with an injury, but this time it’s thought that is not the case.
Only recently, manager Will Still claimed that Danso didn’t want to leave Lens.
Danso could be nearing Lens exit
So Danso will not be involved for Lens tomorrow night, which may well indicate that his exit from the club is getting closer.
But up to now, neither Wolves nor Rennes have matched Lens’ asking price.
It’s thought Rennes are currently closer, but we’ll see what Wolves’ third offer is.
Perhaps this could mean that the wheels are in motion for him to leave the club very soon. But of course, it’s not out of the question that Rennes could beat Wolves to the player.
That would certainly be a blow at this late stage of the transfer window.
