Wolves have recalled Dion Sanderson according to Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer.
There has been speculation for a few weeks now that the 22-year-old could return to Molineux.
He has been doing well at St Andrew’s and obviously, Wolves are very depleted in terms of centre-backs at the moment.
Willy Boly and Yerson Mosquera are both injured. And Romain Saiss is leaving after the Manchester United clash for AFCON duty.
There was a report earlier today that Sanderson was set to be recalled by Wolves.
And it looks like that information was correct.
Via Midlands journalist Tom Ross, Blues boss Bowyer had said on talkSPORT after their defeat to QPR that the youngster has now ended his spell with the Championship side.
In total, he made 16 appearances for Birmingham in total, and leaves the club 18th in the table.
It is now over to Wolves to provide official confirmation of the news.
Wolves still need to add someone else, but it’s surely unlikely
This news may well point to Fosun not spending money to bring in an experienced option.
That was the suggestion from the Telegraph’s report earlier today.
Why else would the club opt to bring Sanderson back to Molineux.
His loan spell was going really well and he was playing regularly.
Surely the only reason they would disrupt that is if they knew there would be no fresh faces coming in this month.
It will be interesting to see if he goes straight into the starting XI to replace Saiss.
