Wolves have been in hot pursuit of Girona defender Ladislav Krejčí as they look to strengthen at the back before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Fans have been awaiting news on Wolves signings as we approach the end of the window, with many feeling as though the club could be in trouble if they can’t get a few more new faces in.
The announcement will come as a relief to Wolves fans, who were growing too used to defenders pulling out at the last minute.
Krejčí is a versatile player, most utilised in defence but a capable midfielder as well. The £26 million fee is high but for a dual-position footballer, it could be well worth it.
His arrival will give Vitor Pereira far more flexibility in both areas, and should he settle in well, he will have multiple avenues into the starting XI.
After Ladislav Krejčí, Wolves need to finalise the move for Christantus Uche
Wolves getting this deal done is brilliant news, but they don’t have time to rest on their laurels.
He didn’t specify which club he would be joining, but Wolves are leading this race and any other outcome would be a shock and a blow.
Following those signings, Wolves could still do with at least one more incoming, and if this shudder-inducing Jorgen Strand Larsen move to Newcastle is to become a reality, two or three.
