La Liga club are asking about Wolves player Jeff Shi branded ‘a generational talent’ – they’ve liked him for years

Wolves are expected to see a few players leave this club this summer – and one La Liga outfit could try to poach a player they’ve admired for years.

Matheus Cunha has a £62.5 million release clause and is expected to leave the club.

Nelson Semedo is another player who could depart Wolves, with Benfica keen.

High earner Pablo Sarabia is also likely to move on, with Wolves keen to trim down their wage bill. The Spaniard is out of contract like Semedo.

But someone else who could be moving on is Fabio Silva, who has been on loan at Las Palmas this season.

It’s been a pretty productive spell for Silva, who has scored seven goals in 19 games so far.

Atletico Madrid are through to be keen on Silva – but now another club are looking at the Portuguese striker.

It has been reported by Estadio Deportivo that Sevilla are interested in Fabio Silva.

Sevilla are said to be asking again about the 22-year-old, who is a player they have admired for years.

Victor Orta has twice tried to sign Silva, and was keen again last summer, but signed Kelechi Iheanacho instead.

Orta has signed four strikers since taking over as sporting director, and none of those signings have really worked out.

So Sevilla are again looking at Silva as an option for the summer.

Potentially, this is an ideal scenario for Wolves. With Sevilla and Atletico Madrid both showing interest, Wolves could see a bidding war break out over the player.

It is highly unlikely Wolves will recoup the full £35 million they initially paid to sign Silva from FC Porto.

But certainly, multiple clubs taking an interest can only be good news.

Jeff Shi called it so wrong with Fabio Silva

There is a strong chance that Silva will finally leave Wolves permanently this summer.

Ultimately, it has been a transfer that just hasn’t worked out and one that has left egg all over chairman Jeff Shi’s face.

Shi called Silva ‘generational’ when signed for the club in 2020: “We’ve been following Fabio’s development for a long time. He’s a player that you only need several minutes to see his natural football talent.

“The timing of this deal is similar to the timing of when we bought Ruben Neves; we’ve waited for the right time to get a high-quality player at the right price.

“Fabio has the potential to be a generational talent and for us to see him develop under Nuno is very exciting. He is the type of player our fans will love.”

It hasn’t worked out for Silva at Wolves for a number of reasons, but clearly, he’s still got admirers and Wolves will just hope they can make back as much money as possible.
