The January transfer window is now open and Wolves supporters will be desperate to see new faces swiftly arrive at Molineux.
Vitor Pereira will expect a busy transfer window in Wolverhampton, with plenty of incomings and exits expected.
Wolves’ top priority is signing a new defender or two as they’re currently light on options at the back. The long-term injury to Yerson Mosquera along with the recent blow to Toti Gomes means Pereira only has two fit senior centre-backs.
Wolves have already opened talks with Kevin Danso, who could become their first signing this January, while another target has now emerged as a genuine option.

Atalanta make Wolves target Ben Godfrey available to sign
In the middle of December, the transfer rumours began to circulate Molineux following the arrival of Pereira in the dugout.
One player who Wolves were linked with was Ben Godfrey, the 26-year-old defender who joined Atalanta from Everton for just £10m in the summer.
Godfrey, who was dubbed ‘outstanding’ by Rio Ferdinand, has never established himself as a key figure in Italy, playing just 93 minutes across all competitions.
The 26-year-old has failed to break into a side who are challenging for the Serie A title and as a result, could be sold this month.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Godfrey is no longer a part of their project and is free to join a new club after being left out of the Super Cup squad.
This could open the door for Wolves to sign the defender who would be an instant improvement on their current options.
What Carlo Ancelotti once said about Godfrey
Godfrey amassed over 100 Premier League appearances during his time at Everton. Known for his exceptional recovery pace and ability to read the game, the ball-playing defender caught the eye of current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park.
Ancelotti was manager of Everton between December 2019 and June 2021. During his time on Merseyside, he was adored by a passionate fanbase and also rated Godfrey highly.
In February 2021, the Italian tactician urged then-England manager Gareth Southgate to draft the defender into his Three Lions squad.
“If Gareth is watching Ben Godfrey then he is right,” Ancelotti said via The Guardian. “Gareth doesn’t need advice from me but to see and watch Ben Godfrey at this moment, in this period, is a pleasure for any manager.
“He has surprised me because I didn’t know him so well [when he signed]. He was a signing from the club, from our scouts, and he has been really good. He has been able to adapt very quickly to different positions.”
