Key catalyst for Mario Lemina’s move to Galatasaray from Wolves now shared, fee agreed

The end is near for Mario Lemina at Wolves.

The Gabon international started the current season as Wolves’ captain, and had just won Supporters’ Player of the Season for 2023/24.

But the captaincy appeared to weigh heavy for Lemina at Molineux.

His performances suffered, and fans saw some emotional outbursts from the 31-year-old, and the scuffle with Jarrod Bowen then cost him the captaincy.

In January, Lemina refused to play against Newcastle United, casting major doubt on his future at the club.

Vitor Pereira said he wouldn’t pay Lemina while the transfer window was still open, and the club have been working hard to facilitate his exit.

That exit now appears close, but one interesting claim is now being made.

It’s been claimed Lemina has agreed to join Galatasaray in a deal worth £2.5 million.

The player has also been pictured in Turkey ahead of the proposed transfer.

Journalist Tanzi Loic has offered an update on the situation, and days that Lemina’s move essentially hinges on Wolves completing their deal for Marshall Munetsi.

Wolves have already agreed a deal to sign Munetsi from Reims, and it’s thought a medical will take place soon.

In a separate message on X, Tanzi reports that Munetsi has the authorisation to engage with Wolves, with Reims already targeting a replacement in Mory Gbane.

Once he’s signed up, Wolves will then sign off the Lemina deal.

Wolves must ensure Munetsi deal is completed first

So Lemina is all set to complete his move to Galatasaray, and the Turkish window doesn’t close until February 11 so Wolves in theory can take their time over Lemina.

That said, the club are right to not sanction anything until they have someone through the door.

Munetsi is on track to become a Wolves player, but still needs to complete his medical.

Hopefully, there are no hiccups because, in an ideal world, Lemina will leave the club after what has happened over the last month or so.
