Wolves have lost the battle to sign Alex Scott, with the teenager about to be announced by Bournemouth.
The attacking midfielder has been on Wanderers’ radar as far back as January of this year.
Wolves made contact with Bournemouth in the winter window in the hope of striking a deal to sign Scott.
But the asking price was reportedly too high.
Wolves have kept tabs on Scott since then.
For weeks it was reported that Wolves would make a move for Scott.
But the club’s financial situation then became public knowledge.
That was ultimately the reason Julen Lopetegui left the club.
It has been reported that the failure to land Scott was the last straw for Lopetegui at Wolves.
And now, there is word that Scott is joining Bournemouth.
Wolves lose race to sign Alex Scott as midfielder joins Bournemouth
It was been reported today by journalist Fabrizio Romano that Scott has completed his medical and signed a contract with the club.
Journalist Ben Jacobs adds that Wolves pushed, but were unwilling to meet the valuation.
It is though that Bournemouth are paying around £25 million (total package for Scott).
While Wolves fans know now that there just isn’t that kind of money for new signings this summer, this will still come as a blow for many.
Scott was reported earlier this year to be open to a move to Molineux.
He was a player that Lopetegui rated very highly and thought could shine for Wolves in a post Ruben Neves-era.
Scott chase finally over for Wolves
It is a huge shame to see Scott completing a move to Bournemouth.
Knowing there isn’t money to spend on new players, some Wolves fans had been hoping to see Scott stay at Bristol City for another season.
Wolves will be able to spend more freely next year, as the club will not be in the third year of a three-year cycle relating to FFP.

So potentially, there could have been a chance for Wolves to move for the youngster then.
But this move to Bournemouth will likely mean that Wolves have missed out on Scott for good.
Because if he lives up to his potential, Scott’s next move will surely be to a top club that is competing for trophies.
– Bournemouth have now officially announced the signing of Alex Scott at 5:05pm this evening.
