Julen Lopetegui impressed with £21m star’s attitude so far in Wolves pre-season

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui is said to have been impressed with Fabio Silva’s attitude, since the striker linked back up with the squad for pre-season.

The 21-year-old became the last player to rejoin the squad this summer, having played at the U21s Euros in Georgia with Portugal.

Some fans wondered if he would actually return at all.

After all, speculation about Silva has been rife.

His agent suggested that he was looking for a new challenge for next season, and there were reports that Wolves would consider offers for him.

The club are still ready to hear offers. And apparently the club value him at around the £21 million mark.

But Lopetegui has always wanted Silva to come back to pre-season so he can take a look at him.

And the manager has liked what he has seen so far.

The report touches on a few players, who could yet be sold in order to raise funds.

Silva is one such player, but it is stated that the youngster has actually made an early impression on Lopetegui.

The Spaniard is said to be impressed with his attitude so far.

At this stage, it really could go either way with Silva.

Raul Jimenez has officially just left the club to join Fulham, which may well open the door for him.

Silva would be competing for minutes with Sasa Kalajdzic and Matheus Cunha, who started through the middle against FC Porto on Tuesday evening.

Hopefully Fabio Silva stays

Wolves’ financial situation will dictate what happens with Silva, but hopefully the youngster stays.

He just wasn’t ready in his first two seasons at Molineux.

Wanderers invested heavily into him, but it was an oversight by the club because Silva had only just broke through to the first-team at Porto.

He then had to carry that £35.6 million price tag on his back at Wolves through no fault of his own.

Silva enjoyed a productive season last term, getting minutes at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.

Those two stints will have really helped him, and it would be great to see him get a chance again at Wolves.

It’s encouraging to hear that Lopetegui is pleased with his attitude. But hopefully the manager feels Silva can genuinely be an option for him.
