Journalist claims Wolves will hear offers for three top stars this summer

It’s expected to be a busy summer at Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

The club are on course for a disappointing finish in the Premier League this season, following two seventh places since the club’s promotion in 2018.

There are a number of reasons why Wolves have struggled this time around.

The sales of Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota have proven significant, and injuries for the likes of Raul Jimenez, Jonny and Willy Boly have been entirely unhelpful.

There has been a lot of struggle at the back, and a couple of additions to improve that area this summer are expected.

Wolves will probably be making some sales though in order to sign the top quality they need.

According to journalist Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window podcast, Wolves could hear offers for three top stars this summer.

He said: “I’m hearing it’s not just Pedro Neto who is being made available for sale, it’s also Ruben Neves and Adama Traore.

“[They are] essentially the three most sellable and valuable talents in Wolves’ squad at present, excluding Raul Jimenez.

“Adama is 25, he is contracted until 2023. They want to sell at least one of those for a substantial fee, perhaps more than one, and then reinvest and freshen up the squad.”

Wolves may have no choice

Ideally, none of the player’s mentioned will be sold this summer.

But it is not that simple.

It’s very possible that large offers could arrive for any one of them, and in these financially testing times, Wolves may well cash in.

Then there’s the players themselves to consider, and how they might agitate for moves away – especially £16 million sigining Neves (BBC Sport), who has been at the club since 2017 and has a contract until 2023 (Transfermarkt).
