Birmingham City are reportedly eyeing up two of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ top young talents.

According to The Athletic’s Wolves reporter Tim Spiers, the Blues are interested in potential deals for Matija Sarkic and Dion Sanderson.

Sarkic, Spiers says, is actually training with the Championship side at the moment, with a view to making a loan move.

Sanderson is also wanted after his impressive season with Sunderland in 2020/21.

The claim comes after Ryan Giles departed Wolves today to join Cardiff City on a season-long loan.

Sarkic, 23, spent last season with Shrewsbury Town, where he made 29 appearances.

He has also been linked with Coventry City.

Sanderson’s great form has led to interest from a number of clubs, including Newcastle United and Sheffield United, as well as the Black Cats.

A good move for both

After both players had spells in League One last term, a move to the Championship would be good for both players.

Sanderson previously played in the division for Cardiff, but only made 10 appearances due to joining them halfway through the 2019/20 season.

In the case of Sanderson – who is reportedly valued at around £2 million (The Athletic) – hopefully, this move would happen after signing a new deal.

It was recently reported he had turned an offer from Wolves down, but the club are said to be confident of agreeing fresh terms.
