Journalist claims Ajax are interested in loan move for Wolves defender Ki-Jana Hoever

Wolves could loan out Ki-Jana Hoever this summer, with Ajax keen to sign the defender.

The youngster has endured a tough couple of years at Molineux following his move from Liverpool.

Hoever moved to the club at the same time as Diogo Jota headed to Anfield, signing for a £13.5 million fee in total (BBC Sport).

Hoever has found opportunities difficult to come by, with Nelson Semedo firmly established as the first-choice right wing-back.

So far, Hoever has clocked up just 25 appearances for the club.

This term he’s featured just 12 times, and made eight Premier League appearances.

Back in March, the youngster got a rare chances to impress against Crystal Palace with Semedo out injured.

But he only last half of the first-half in that game, going off with a hamstring injury.

After the game Bruno Lage suggested he had not been properly prepared, and also took aim at some of the other young players in the club without naming them.

Lage said that Hoever would get another chance under him, but he did not get any more minutes for the first-team despite being available for selection for the past month.

Now it seems Wolves are ready to sanction a loan move for the player.

Journalist Tim Spiers appeared on Talking Wolves’ End of Season podcast, and reported that Hoever has interest from 2021/22 Dutch Eredivisie champions Ajax.

He said: “I’ve heard that a loan is likely. There won’t be clubs short of him. I know Ajax have had a look at him to take him back, which would be a nice loan move

Ki-Jana Hoever needs a loan, and Ajax could be a great move

Hoever could really do with a loan move.

Semedo is firmly established as the number one right wing-back, and there is also Jonny Castro Otto who is capable of playing on the right.

Lage has also suggested that Chiquinho has the capacity to play as a wing-back.

It is difficult to see how Hoever gets regular minutes.

Following what happened at Selhurst Park, it feels like he needs to go away and play regularly, before coming back and proving a point.
