Jorge Mendes now expected to get £60m player out of Wolves after Tottenham enquiry

Wolves have sold their first player in captain Max Kilman – and another could soon be set to follow him out the door.

Wanderers have been busy in the transfer window so far, with four players coming in.

The cost of signing those players – Tommy Doyle, Rodrigo Gomes, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Pedro Lima – has just been offset by Kilman’s move to West Ham United.

West Ham signed Kilman for £40 million, which is a really solid sale.

Kilman signed for Wolves for just £40,000 back in 2018, so it is a big profit on the player.

But Wolves could well sell another top player in Pedro Neto, with a new claim being made on Saturday about the Portuguese winger.

Neto has been talked about for months as a possible outgoing at Wolves this summer.

The star enjoyed a fantastic season in 2023/24, although he did miss a lot of games due to two hamstring injuries.

Neto reminded people what he is all about at Euro 2024 as he played a bit-part role for Portugal under Roberto Martinez, and could be that reports pick up about him now they are out of the tournament.

Give Me Sport have claimed that there is now a ‘growing feeling’ that the agent Jorge Mendes will be successful in his attempts to get Neto a move away from Wolves this summer.

The outlet say that Tottenham Hotspur have made new enquiries about the 24-year-old.

It is a ‘serious possibility’ that Neto will be moving on. But it is also mentioned that the player’s injury record will be the ‘main barrier’ to him joining another club.

Neto also has interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester City.

Wolves do not have to sell. Especially now that one big sale has already been made with Kilman. But Molineux officials know that selling Neto would allow them to rebuild the squad further.

Wolves in strong position over Neto

While Neto has obviously had some injuries over the last few years, Wolves are still in a fairly strong position over the player this summer.

The Kilman sale was really good for Wolves, as it now means the club are even less inclined to sell. Even before that deal, Wolves did not need to sell Neto.

That said, offers will be heard for Neto, who likely wants a fresh challenge at this point. It was reported last year that he saw himself as the next big sale at Molineux.

It has previously been reported that Wolves want around £60 million for Neto, which would be great business. Wolves not needing to sell means they could stand firm, which may prompt clubs to get very close to that high asking price.
