Manchester United signed Matheus Cunha in the summer and have been strongly linked with Joao Gomes – but now there’s word of interest from the Red Devils in yet another Molineux star.
Man United like Joao Gomes and have done for quite some time.
This week, there has been heavy speculation about the Brazilian potentially making a mid-season switch to Old Trafford.
How much is Joao Gomes worth in today’s market?
There haven’t been talks between Wolves and United yet over a transfer for Gomes, despite claims to the contrary from abroad.
It’s thought that Wolves won’t sell unless there’s a feeling that the club are too cut adrift in terms of Premier League survival.
There’s a real chance that could happen, so a move for Gomes to United should not be ruled out.
But he’s apparently not the only Wolves player United have taken a look at.
Man United have also assessed Wolves midfielder Andre as a potential target

According to a report from ESPN, United have actually also done work to assess Gomes’ midfield partner Andre.
Andre is into his second season now at Wolves, after joining the club last year from Fluminense.
He is widely regarded as one of, if not Wolves’ best player, and there was fury earlier this season when Vitor Pereira put him on the bench a couple of times for no good reason.
ESPN appear to suggest that United’s plans relate to next summer, rather than January.
Given Andre’s quality, there is a feeling that Wolves will struggle to keep the Brazilian beyond 2026.
Andre will surely leave Wolves in 2026
There was a lot of surprise when Wolves won the race for Andre in 2024, as several other big clubs had looked at him.
Even if Wolves somehow manage to stay up at the end of this season, it is surely highly unlikely that Andre will be sticking around.
While he’s not had a great season, he is a Champions League-level player on his day.
Andre is a top player on his day for Wolves
He is likely not going to want to stick around at a Fosun-owned Wolves, especially if his midfield partner Gomes departs.
There have already been some warning signs, with Juventus reportedly showing interest in Andre in the summer.
It will certainly be very interesting to see if United sign one of or both Andre and Gomes in 2026 – or potentially even neither.
