Wolves are still waiting for Jhon Arias to come good at Molineux after joining during the summer transfer window.
The Club World Cup certainly hasn’t helped Jhon Arias’ situation at Wolves, as many supporters were expecting almost a direct replacement for Matheus Cunha.
Arias created the most chances of any player in the competition (18), even more than former midfielder Ruben Neves (12) and winger Pedro Neto (11).
Kaka’s verdict on Jhon Arias at the Club World Club seems totally wide of the mark right now 😲
Can you see Arias ever coming good for Wolves?!
However, he has failed to show any kind of quality at Wolves so far. His zero goals and zero assists in 16 appearances speak volumes, but Rob Edwards still believes he is a great player.
The January transfer window is right around the corner, and Wolves need to be ruthless. Whilst relegation looks inevitable, they still need to strengthen and build a team that can deliver on the field.
Jhon Arias comes to a decision on his Wolves future
There have been plenty of rumours involving Jhon Arias of late. A return to Brazil is a possibility, with Fluminense and Palmeiras both interested in his signature.
However, Arias has always spoken positively of his time at Wolves and accepted that there needs to be a period of adjustment in the Premier League.
Jhon Arias was only recently quoted speaking defiantly amid his Wolves struggles. How much time should he be given?😬
It has now been claimed that he’s made a bit of a U-turn on his future and is now open to potentially leaving the club in January.
According to journalist Cosme Rimoli, as per Esportes, Arias is “absolutely unhappy” in England and has struggled even more as winter temperatures drop. He adds that the Colombian has lost confidence.
What other options do Wolves have up front?
Wolves don’t have the luxury of quality options up top to swap between. Tolu Arokodare and Jorgen Strand Larsen have both struggled to find their touch in front of goal.
Meanwhile, Fer Lopez is likely set for a loan move in January, and Jean Ricner-Bellegarde just hasn’t shown enough in the final third.
The Old Gold lacks any real creativity and threat in the final third. Lopez and Mateus Mane have been the only two players to pick up the ball and drive at the opposition.
At a time when a place in the Premier League is on the line, Wolves need to turn to Premier League experience and proven quality in the January window.
