‘It’s not happening’ – Sky Sports reporter denies sensational Wolves transfer link live on air

Sky Sports reporter Amber Sandhu has stated live on air that one Wolves transfer isn’t happening in a blow to Vitor Pereira.

Deadline day is building up to be an incredibly busy day for Wolves as they aim to construct some last-minute business.

Wolves have agreed a £10m transfer for Nasser Djiga, striking an agreement with Red Star Belgarde as the centre-back prepares to undergo his medical at Molineux.

Djiga isn’t the only signing Vitor Pereira is looking to do on the final day, though, as one sensational swap deal was mooted.

Wolves were in talks with Leicester to re-sign Conor Coady, according to reports, with Craig Dawson supposedly heading in the other direction. However, those claims have now been denied.

Craig Dawson and Conor Coady swap deal ‘not happening’

Speaking live on Sky Sports at Leicester City’s training ground, reporter Amber Sandhu was asked about the links involving Coady and Dawson.

Unfortunately for Wolves fans, Sandhu instantly denied the links as she said: “Having spoken to the club a few moments ago, they’re denying it and claim it’s not happening.”

Coady spent eight years at Molineux, captaining the side through their most successful period of the modern era under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Despite only making 10 top-flight appearances for Pereira’s relegation rivals this term, the 31-year-old’s return would have been welcomed by the fans.

Although they will now have to stop dreaming about the Englishman pulling on the jersey once more following news that the deal isn’t happening.

Dawson should leave Wolves on a free transfer

Rumours of Wolves going after Coady and swapping Dawson in return was perhaps a smart play by the Wanderers hierarchy.

Dawson is approaching his 35th birthday in March and sees his contract expire in the summer. Pereira isn’t a huge fan of the veteran due to his lack of mobility, perhaps seeing him as surplus to requirements.

Coady, on the other hand, is a natural-born leader, as seen during his time at Wolves, offering qualities that are vital in a relegation battle.

The former Liverpool defender is also brilliant in the centre of a back three, commanding his defence and utilising his ball-playing qualities.

Of course, with this deal already dead in the water, it’s unlikely Coady makes a fairytale return to Wolverhampton and Dawson goes the other way.

However, Dawson should leave in the summer, as it appears his race is run in a Wolves shirt.
